TPB Groomers Updates

Donations Update (Go Fund Me)

The goal for the 2022/2023 season was to raise $7,500 which was achieved through donations by approximately 100 people. The amount of money is impressive and reflects the support of the community for the winter use of the trails by cyclists, walkers, skiers, snowshoers and trail runners. Donations were also received for gasoline.

Last year TPBG received a grant of $7,500 from the Province, which was used to establish an introductory mountain bilking trail, The Waterfalls Green Trail. This two-kilometre trail includes an improved access to the Park, along with a Trailhead next to a parking lot. The trail has been used by all ages and includes a switch back and play area with a balance beam, teeter totter and a few bumps. The combination of the donation and hundreds of hours of volunteer time represents a start to improved trails in PippyPark/Three Pond Barrens.

In 2023 the Province approved TPBG’s proposal for $10,000 to improve sections of existing trails with the aim of developing a green trail loop. The intent is for a trail which could be ridden by a fatbike or non/limited suspension bike. The location would extend from the Green Trail and eventually loop back to the Green Trailhead. Upon completion, the trail would be in the range of eight kilometres in length.

City of St. John’s: Grant

For the second straight year the City has provided a grant of $2,500 to TPBG. The grant was extremely important in 2022 as it allowed TPBG to purchase insurance and have funds for maintenance and start up costs. This year it is anticipated the entire amount will be used to purchase an expanded insurance policy.

Canada Games 2025 – Cross Country Mountain Biking

The event will take place in Pippy Park. TPBG is hopeful there will be a legacy of an improved trail network tied into plans for a Green Trail loop.
